Fourteen local health care workers received their Elder Care Certificates (ECC) from the Alber Enterprise Center at Ohio State Marion on Wednesday, May 10th, in a recognition ceremony with all the pomp and circumstance of a typical graduation. These dedicated, long-term health care employees participated in a Pilot Program funded through an OSU CARES seed grant. The Alber Enterprise Center directed the program under the leadership of Anne Johnson, MS, Senior Organization Development Consultant, and facilitated by experts in the field.

Delores Wojtas looks forward to visits from therapy dogs to her room at the Medina facility of the Hospice of the Western Reserve. On Thursday, she got to pet, hug and snuggle with three canine friends. "I think it's wonderful," she said, beaming from her bed as she cuddled her 18-month-old great-granddaughter, Contessa Magnelli, and stroked the soft head of Molly, a shepherd/blue healer herding dog mix with soulful blue eyes.
A group of Canton area businesses have partnered to honor those who selflessly serve in the area hospice community through the Hospice Heroes program. Each month, a Hospice Hero is selected and recognized for serving with their hearts, being devoted to the mission of hospice and standing out among their peers. Nicole “Nikki” Batten, a hospice aide for Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice in the greater Akron area was selected as the Hospice Hero for the month of February.
