Lesson Plans- Using Books to Help Kids Cope

Identifying the right book to open up the lines of communication is only the first step. Part of the amazing gift Pam left behind with this program is to create hands on activities associated with the books to "bring the books to life" and reinforce the lesson of each book.

When you might not know the "right words" to say when someone you love is grieving, a book can serve as the conversation starter. The partnership of reading the book, along with doing arts and crafts that mirror the lesson of the book helps to create a tangible reminder for the child of what that book teaches.

Children learn best through tangible reminders of what they are taught.
