Pain Management: CDC Conversation Starters

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released new fact sheets for patients and physicians to encourage conversation around pain management options and risks of opioid medication use. The fact sheets cover acute pain, chronic pain, prescription opioids, and reducing the risk of opioid addiction

These fact sheets include topics such as what to expect if taking opioids, treatment options that don’t involve opioids, side effects of opioids, and risk of opioid addiction. The CDC opioid overdose page  offers more information on the topic.
